Crop3

Every available piece of land is
used to produce crops in Japan.
Valley bottoms tend to be flat
and narrow but fertile.
The forested valley sides are far
too steep for crop production.
Machinery would find
movement difficult and soil
erosion would be a major
problem without trees to help
bind the soil  together. Each of
these photos are taken very close
to densely populated centres.
