How much grain do they deliver to each pen at each feeding?

The Nelson family feeds their farm animals on Hillside Farm twice a day. At each feeding they use an empty coffee can to measure the grain. They use a total of 12 cans of grain a day, using an equal amount of grain for morning and night.

  • The horse gets 2 flakes of hay besides the grain.

  • For the 30 chickens, they scatter as much grain as they give the horse and sheep combined.

  • The 6 sheep aren't very hungry at this time of year, but they still get twice as much grain each day as the one horse.

  • Besides the grain, the sheep eat a bale of hay each day.

  • Chickens add to their diet by eating bugs they find.
