Proms are now in the UK at most Schools
Prom Night should be an evening to remember and you will want to help to make it an especially wonderful night. There are many things you will consider as you undertake to prepare for the prom.
Arranging this memorable event often falls on a small group of volunteers. Everyone has a different idea of what they want to get out of prom, working together as a group to tackle those aspects of the prom that are most important will be just one of the many tasks you will need to undertake.

Learning activity and practical advice for the simple and cost conscious way to creating:
- Floral decorations
- Balloons
- Banners / posters / newsletters / flyers / tickets – Basic introduction to Publisher
- Room design – Basic Introduction to a room design package
- Learning activities introducing basic Word – setting out a letter inviting donations from local businesses / organisations
- Links to local organisations who are willing to donate or offer discounts for the event.
- Supplier advertisements
- Best value purchases / money saving ideas
- Online vouchers offering discounts which can be printed off and used by other schools for their event.
Learning opportunities for people to create a website which will house all the above learning activities, results and enable a holistic view to the process from start to finish
This project could attract potential learners from the following groups:
School leavers, parents, teachers, school staff, grandparents, members of the wider community, local businesses.
Module titles to include:
- Plan it (organisational skills, Committee structure, Word Doc letter, minute taking / action planning Excel Spreadsheet)
- Theme it (pupil consultation exercise, Powerpoint presentation of examples of different styles/themes)
- Cost it (basic mathematics module )
- Create it (flowers, balloons, banners / posters/ invitation design, room design)
- Record it (Digital photography, DVD, CD, school website, digital autogragh / message book)
- Fundraise for it (Word doc inviting donations from local businesses / organisations)
- Talk about it (Online community group – advice, who to speak to, suppliers advertisements, gossip/news pre and post party)
Possible partners to approach for this project would be Sandwell Schools and their Parent Teacher Associations. Relevant local businesses could also be approached.
